Account Hub: EFIN Locked

Encountering an error message while saving a client on Account Hub, particularly one indicating that the EFIN is already in the system, can be addressed with the following steps:

  • 1. Understanding the Error:

    • Acknowledge that the error doesn't necessarily mean a mistyped EFIN. It could indicate that the EFIN is already registered in the TaxSlayer System.

  • 2. Clarification from ERO:

    • Ask the ERO (Electronic Return Originator): "Have you been directly associated with TaxSlayer in the past?"

  • 3. ERO Direct History:

    • If the response is "Yes, I was with TaxSlayer directly a few years ago," then the EFIN might be reserved or associated with their previous direct TaxSlayer account.

  • 4. Initiate Ticket Submission:

    • In case of ERO's past direct association, submit a support ticket to SBA Support.

5. Include Relevant Details in Ticket:

  • Provide comprehensive information in the support ticket, specifying the EFIN in question and highlighting the ERO's prior direct connection with TaxSlayer.

  • 6. SBA Support Action:

    • SBA Support will review the ticket and may proceed with the request to unlock the EFIN associated with the past TaxSlayer account.

  • 7. Wait for Resolution:

    • Allow time for the SBA Support team to investigate and resolve the issue. Regularly check the ticket status for updates.

  • 8. Follow-up Communication:

    • If additional information is needed, be responsive to any inquiries from the SBA Support team to expedite the resolution process.

  • 9. Confirmation of EFIN Unlock:

    • Once the EFIN is successfully unlocked, you should receive confirmation. Reattempt saving the client on Account Hub to ensure successful processing.

By following these steps and effectively communicating with the ERO and SBA Support, you can address the issue of a duplicate EFIN entry, especially when the ERO has a previous direct association with TaxSlayer. This proactive approach helps streamline the resolution process and ensures a smoother experience on Account Hub.
